Opposition Guide: Caernarfon Town

Bont are back at home against Caernarfon on Friday 6th November, following nearly a month away from the DragonBet Stadium.

The match pits third against fourth in the Cymru Premier, with both teams having enjoyed strong starts to the season. We preview what you can expect from our opponents.

The Man in Charge

A man who’s been involved at Caernarfon for over 10 years now, Richard Davies held a number of roles before taking on the top job in 2023.

He has won 45% of his 142 matches in charge for the Cofis, but that doesn’t tell the full story. He has achieved a period of unprecedented success at the Oval having twice led the club into European competition, and led the team to a maiden Welsh Cup title.

Before his arrival at Caernarfon 10 years ago, he held the top job at Penrhydeudraeth FC.

Last Time Out

Caernarfon may have enjoyed a strong start to their Cymru Premier campaign, but they lost last time out on the road to an in-form Airbus side.

Oliver Lanceley opened the scoring for Airbus after eight minutes, before Caernarfon winger Sion Bradley equalised with his eighth goal of the season.

Cymru Premier top scorer George Peers scored two goals in four minutes early in the second half; the fourth match in a row where he had bagged a brace. Another in-form man Zack Clarke did pull one back in stoppage time for Caernarfon, but it was not enough to mount a comeback.

Our Last Meeting

Bont and Caernarfon met in the second round of fixtures at the beginning of the Cymru Premier season in August, with Bont emerging victorious.

It was a match with plenty of first half action, with Zack Clarke opening the scoring after five minutes for the home side.

Bont would fight back well, with Ryan Hill and Tom Mehew scoring their first Bont goals before half time. Mehew’s was a fantastic guided effort which found the top scorer, while Hill gave Bont the lead from the spot.

Key Players

Sion Bradley- A Club Legend at Caernarfon, Bradley has enjoyed several strong seasons at the oval but is currently in the form of his life.

He has scored eight goals in just 14 appearances from the right wing so far this season, as well as grabbing a further two assists. He has also proven to be one of the best dribblers in the division, having managed 2.7 successful dribbles per game.

He is also one of Caernarfon’s best creators, managing 1.2 key passes per game.

Zack Clarke- Zack Clarke has been one of the most in-form strikers in the Cymru Premier this season, scoring 13 goals in 15 games.

While he has performed well previously, managing double figures in two Cymru Premier seasons, this season has been the best of Clarke’s career.

A high-volume shooter, he takes on 3.4 shots per game. The Bont defence will have to make sure he is not given time in the box, having been in such strong form throughout the season.

Connor Roberts- One of the division’s best goalkeepers over the last 10 years, Connor Roberts was TNS’ number one for several years, before signing for Caernarfon after announcing his retirement from the professional game.

He has kept four clean sheets, and averaged a save percentage of 69% so far this season.

He also received a call-up to the Wales National Team in 2025 by manager Craig Bellamy before leaving TNS, on account of his strong performances for the club.

See you tomorrow, Bont fans.
