Bobbies with the Bont: A Community Partnership for Positive Change

Penybont FC, South Wales Police, and the Local Authority have joined forces in ‘Bobbies with the Bont,’ a pioneering initiative to create safer, family-friendly community spaces while tackling crime and anti-social behavior (ASB).

Collaboration for Community Impact

As a key community hub, we are working with law enforcement and local authorities to share best practices and address social challenges. Bi-monthly meetings will help identify problems, review trends, and implement solutions before issues escalate.

Education and Awareness

The initiative will run campaigns addressing violence against women (VAWG), underage drinking, and knife crime, including:

  • ‘Not The One’ – Raising awareness about knife crime.

  • ‘Ask Angela’ – Providing safe spaces for women.

  • ASSIA – Supporting domestic abuse victims.

Licensed premises engaging in educational programs have seen a 15% reduction in underage drinking, proving the effectiveness of such initiatives.

Football as a Tool for Change

Football is a powerful means to engage youth and reduce ASB. The ‘Tackle After Dark’ program, for instance, led to a 66% drop in youth ASB in Bridgend. This initiative will use similar strategies to offer positive alternatives to crime and disorder.

Benefits for Penybont FC and the Community

By joining ‘Bobbies with the Bont,’ Penybont FC gains:

  • Support from South Wales Police and local authorities.

  • Expert guidance on tackling ASB, hate crime, and youth engagement.

  • Positive media exposure for community leadership.

  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and crime prevention.

A Shared Vision for a Safer Future

‘Bobbies with the Bont’ is more than a partnership—it’s a movement that ensures football clubs remain safe, responsible, and inclusive spaces. With structured meetings, direct police engagement, and targeted interventions, the initiative sets a model for community collaboration across Wales.
